Terms of Use

Quiet is a Chrome extension and website operated by Tanishq Garg, ABN 79 130 803 721, based in Australia. By installing the extension, creating an account, or using Quiet in any way, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, don't use Quiet.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and forms part of this agreement.

You need to be at least 13 years old to hold a Quiet account. If you are setting Quiet up on a family computer for a younger child, the account must be yours, and you are responsible for how it is used.

Quiet hides distracting parts of YouTube: the recommendation feed, Shorts, suggested videos, comments, and similar, according to settings you choose. The free version works entirely on your own computer without an account. Quiet Pro adds features that sync your settings across devices, including schedules, profiles, channel and keyword filters, watch limits and the session nudge.

Quiet changes how YouTube looks in your own browser. It does not modify YouTube itself, does not interfere with anyone else's experience, and does not block or alter advertising.

Quiet is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected to YouTube, Google LLC, or any of their subsidiaries. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC.

Your use of YouTube remains subject to YouTube's own terms of service. Nothing in these terms changes your relationship with YouTube or Google.

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access to it. Please give us accurate information when you sign up, particularly a working email address, since that is how we reach you about your subscription.

Sharing within your household is fine. You may sign in to Quiet on the devices of people you live with, for example a parent setting Quiet up on a child's computer. If you do, understand that it is one account: settings are shared, a change made on any device or in the dashboard applies to all of them, and the usage totals in the dashboard combine everyone using it. You remain responsible for the account, and the Privacy Policy explains what that means for the people sharing it.

• Pricing. Quiet Pro is billed monthly or annually at the prices shown on our pricing page at the time you subscribe. All prices are in US dollars unless stated otherwise.
• Free trial. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. A payment method is required to start it, which is how our payment provider works, but you are not charged during the trial. One free trial per person.
• Automatic renewal. When the trial ends, your subscription begins and your payment method is charged. Subscriptions renew automatically each period until you cancel.
• Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from Manage billing in your dashboard. Your Pro features continue until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again after that.
• Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your card details.
• Price changes. If we change the price of a subscription, we will give you notice by email before it applies to you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

Cancelling stops future charges but does not automatically refund the period you are currently in. That said, if Quiet isn't working for you, email us. We would rather sort it out than have you feel stuck with something you aren't using.

These terms do not limit any refund or remedy you are entitled to under the Australian Consumer Law. See Your rights under Australian Consumer Law below.

When using Quiet, please don't:

• Resell, sublicense or commercially redistribute your account or Pro access.
• Share your account beyond your own household, or run it as a shared account for a group, organisation or customer base.
• Try to bypass payment, or access Pro features you have not paid for.
• Copy, decompile or reverse engineer Quiet to build a competing product, except to the extent the law expressly allows.
• Attack, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or another user’s account.
• Use Quiet to break the law, or to breach YouTube’s own terms.

Quiet works by recognising parts of YouTube's page layout. YouTube changes that layout regularly and without notice, and when it does, some part of Quiet can stop working until we ship a fix. We built Quiet so most of these fixes can be delivered within hours rather than waiting on a store review, and we actively maintain it, but we cannot promise it will never break, and we do not control YouTube.

We also can't promise the service will always be available and uninterrupted. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, though we will give reasonable notice before making a significant change that affects paying subscribers.

Quiet is a tool to reduce distraction. It is not a guarantee of productivity, and it is not a safety or content-filtering product. It hides parts of the YouTube interface; it does not assess whether content is appropriate, and it cannot prevent someone from reaching content deliberately, including by turning Quiet off, using a different browser, or using a different device. Please don't rely on it to keep anyone away from harmful material.

If you are a consumer in Australia, our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those guarantees.

Among other things, you are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the service remedied within a reasonable time if it is not of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Subject to the section above, and to the extent permitted by law: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, loss of data, or loss arising from changes YouTube makes to its own service; and our total liability to you for any claim relating to Quiet is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Where a liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.

We own Quiet: the extension, the website, the name and the branding. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Quiet while you comply with them; they don't transfer ownership of anything to you.

Your settings and the data in your account remain yours. You grant us only the permission we need to store and sync them so the product works.

You can stop using Quiet at any time by uninstalling the extension, and you can delete your account from the Account page in your dashboard.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaches these terms, for example by attacking our systems or reselling access. If we do that and you have paid for a period you can no longer use, we will refund the unused portion, unless the breach involved fraud.

We may update these terms as Quiet changes. If we make a material change, we will tell you by email or in the dashboard before it takes effect. Continuing to use Quiet after that means you accept the updated terms. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and the courts of Australia have jurisdiction over any dispute, though if you are a consumer in another country, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws where you live.
