How to block YouTube Shorts in Edge or Brave
Short answer
Quiet is a Chromium extension, so it installs in Microsoft Edge and Brave from the Chrome Web Store and works the same way: one Shorts switch removes the shelf, the sidebar entry and channel Shorts tabs. YouTube itself offers no way to turn Shorts off.
On YouTube
- 1Open the YouTube homepage and find the Shorts shelf.
- 2Click the X in the shelf’s top-right corner.
- 3YouTube hides that shelf for the next 30 days.
The catch: Homepage only, and only for 30 days. The sidebar entry and channel Shorts tabs stay.
With Quiet
Open Quiet’s Chrome Web Store page from Edge or Brave and add it. Edge may first ask you to allow extensions from other stores; Brave installs it directly. It works on youtube.com, not in the YouTube app.
Add to ChromeFree. No account needed.
Common questions
- Is it the same extension as the Chrome one?
- Yes. Edge and Brave run Chrome Web Store extensions, so it is the same free extension with the same switches.
- Does Quiet work in Firefox or Safari?
- No. Quiet is built for desktop Chromium browsers such as Chrome, Edge and Brave, and there is no Firefox or Safari version.
