How to hide YouTube end screen suggestions and end cards
Short answer
YouTube has no viewer setting to turn off end screen suggestions, the grid of videos offered when a video finishes, or the end cards creators place over the last seconds. Turning autoplay off stops the next video starting by itself, but the suggestions still appear. Quiet has two switches for them, After-video suggestions and End cards (last seconds), and both are on from the moment you install.
On YouTube
- 1Open any video and look at the bottom of the player.
- 2Click the autoplay switch so it reads Off.
- 3When the video ends, the next one no longer starts by itself.
The catch: The grid of suggested videos still appears at the end, and creators’ end cards still sit over the last seconds.
With Quiet
After-video suggestions hides the grid shown when a video ends. End cards (last seconds) hides the cards a creator places over the final seconds, and the Hide pill YouTube draws beside them. Each works on its own.
Common questions
- Does this stop the next video from playing automatically?
- Not by itself. Autoplay is a separate switch in the popup. Turn it on as well, and nothing is lined up or offered when a video ends.
- Can I hide the end grid but keep creators' end cards?
- Yes. After-video suggestions and End cards (last seconds) are separate switches, and each works on its own.
- Does it hide the recommendations beside the video?
- No. Those belong to the Recommended videos switch, so you choose whether to hide them too.
- Does it work in the YouTube app?
- No. Quiet is a browser extension for desktop Chromium browsers such as Chrome, Edge and Brave, so it cannot reach the YouTube app on a phone or tablet.
